A Federal Firearms License (also referred to as FFL) is required by anyone engaging in the sale or transfer of firearms in the United States. The FFL entitles the dealer to receive and transfer firearms in accordance with the laws set forth by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). In order to receive your weapon, it must first be transferred to a licensed dealer where the appropriate transfer paperwork and background check can be processed.
All NFA items sold by BlackBird Armament will be labeled as such in their product descriptions. BlackBird Armament NFA items include: Short Barreled Rifles (SBR) & Suppressors. A short barreled rifle is a shoulder fired rifle with a barrel length under 16” and an overall length under 26”. Purchasing an NFA item goes as followed: place your order as you would any other firearm. We will then build your gun and apply to transfer the firearm to your local Class 3 Dealer. This process can take anywhere from 6-10 weeks for the paperwork to be approved. Once the transfer is approved, we will ship the gun to your local dealer where you will fill out an ATF Form 4, and enclose a $200 tax payment for each NFA item on your firearm. The approval process from the ATF for NFA items can range anywhere from 6-12 months. Please note: In some states it is illegal to possess NFA items. It is your responsibility to comply with all local and federal laws.
First and foremost it is of the utmost importance for you to research your state’s laws to ensure compliance. As a general rule, our Rifles can be shipped unmodified to all states excluding California, Hawaii, Connecticut, Washington D.C, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey. We do not manufacture an AWB state compliant rifle at this time.
Each purchase includes a BlackBird rifle bag, your completed rifle, a sample of Clenzoil™ gun lubricant and two Lancer™ 30 round hybrid magazine (where state law permits).
When ordering online, you will notice your order status as “Received”, “Processed”, or “Cancelled.” Brief explanations are as follows:
Received: Your order has been placed, but a representative has not reviewed the order for processing.
Processed: Your order has been reviewed and entered into our system.
Variances in delivery or acceptance of supplies, makes it impossible to provide accurate lead-times. A single delay or quality rejection affects hundreds of orders in the production schedule. We cannot respond to every requests for status. We simply provide a general time frame at the time of your order. PLEASE NOTE: OUR CURRENT LEAD TIME IS 12 WEEKS.
When used properly, our rifles are designed to shoot thousands of rounds without cleaning or lubrication while still maintaining accuracy. However, we recommend giving your BlackBird rifle a good cleaning and a few spray of Clenzoil™ gun oil every 300-500 rounds to maintain performance. For more information on proper firearm maintenance, head over to www.clenzoil.com for tips and products.
We only recommend the use of factory loaded, brass cased ammunition. We urge all of our customers to stay away from steel cased ammo and reloads.
Yes, despite external dimensions being identical, 5.56 NATO ammunition is a higher pressure round than commercial .223. If your rifle is chambered in .223 only .223 ammunition should be used; as using .556 NATO can create an unsafe high pressure condition. If your rifle is chambered in 5.56 NATO it is safe to fire both .223 and 5.56 NATO. In addition: all BlackBird rifles are high-pressure tested and inspected before leaving the factory.
We currently offer AR-style rifles and pistols chambered in 5.56, 300 AAC Blackout and 6.5 Creedmoor.
Our rifles are guaranteed MOA or better. Many variables are involved when shooting for accuracy or determining groups such as environment, ammo, optics, and individual shooter ability.
